ADR Group: sustainable strategies
In 2019, the European Union decided to reduce its polluting emissions by 55 percent by 2030 and to eliminate them entirely by 2050.
Manufacturing companies are heavily involved in this project through regulations that the Adr Group has adopted as the foundation of its current production standards
When discussing polluting emissions, people generally tend to think immediately of road transport and, in particular, passenger cars, even though, as demonstrated by reports from the European Environment Agency and the International Energy Agency, cars actually account for only around one percent of Europe’s climate-altering emissions. The issue is therefore far more complex, so much so that the European Union introduced the “Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive,” which requires large companies to produce periodic reports highlighting the actions undertaken to improve their sustainability standards.
These regulations are accompanied by two due diligence directives that require companies to identify, prevent, and mitigate any potential negative environmental impacts throughout their entire value chains.
Speaking about sustainability therefore means going beyond the simple reduction of emissions. It involves integrating environmental, social, and economic dimensions into a single development model, a strategy that the Adr Group has fully embraced with the aim of responding as efficiently as possible, and in an environmentally responsible manner, to current and future market demands regarding axles, suspensions, and braking systems.
This is achieved by placing the principles of the circular economy at the center of the company’s activities, from waste reduction and material reuse to resource optimization, without overlooking product designs focused on durability.
ADR products are developed with long life cycles and low maintenance requirements in mind, thereby reducing the consumption of materials, energy, and spare parts. Suppliers are also required to comply with these objectives by sharing the same environmental and quality standards through continuous monitoring of their production processes.
Among the most recent and concrete initiatives implemented by ADR are the use of reusable or recyclable packaging, reliance on local suppliers to reduce transportation needs, the purchase of energy from renewable sources, the recovery of processing materials and fluids, waste reduction through dedicated technologies, and improved energy efficiency within production facilities.
This latter objective has been pursued through LED lighting systems, automated heating technologies, and, above all, the installation of extensive solar panel systems on factory rooftops in order to mitigate energy consumption.
Logistics operations have also been optimized through wider use of groupage transportation and the adoption of packaging returned by customers. At the same time, the company has introduced concrete initiatives aimed at raising sustainability awareness among employees.
Among these is the “ADR Green Go” program, which encourages virtuous commuting behaviors by concretely rewarding employees who choose bicycles over cars for their daily journeys between home and work.
As a result, for the Lombardy-based Group, sustainability represents a structured and dynamic path capable of strengthening competitiveness, generating value, and contributing to responsible development on a global scale.
