An important novelty for the safety and manoeuvring of farm
machinery comes from the ADR study centre. In the forefront for its
self-steering axles, for which it has several patents, the ADR group
has now revolutionised the sector with STC, its patented
oleo-dynamic steering control, solving the reverse manoeuvring
problem for trailers with several axles, so the operator always
knows “where to put wheels”.
In the best ADR tradition, design has aimed at function and
simplicity: the system is piloted by the tractor, but is only based
in the trailer, so each tractor can hook it on and make it work
straight away.
STC has no rivals in guaranteeing maximum manoeuvrability for new
generation farm machinery, with low pressure tyres. Manageable and
safe. With its patented geometry, STC keeps the trailer on the road
even if its directional system has gone wrong, and the user can
continue its journey carefully. Like all ADR products, STC is
compatible with the rest of the group’s products, from suspensions
to brakes.
The really reduced distance between wheel rotation axle and
articulation joint pin makes steering really easy and enables the
oleo-dynamic system to work with relatively low pressures so each
minimum change in direction by the tractor is transmitted to trailer
wheels. This characteristic is important when reversing where the
comparison with commanded self-steering is absolutely not proposable.
Furthermore, joint compactness means wide section wheels can be used.
Lots of advantages, and care over safety. The special STC geometry
means you can keep the trailer headed in the right direction even if
the oleo-dynamic control system breaks down so the user can carry on
its journey carefully.
